Rihanna- Same Ol' Mistakes

Rihanna was born on February 20th 1988. Her full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty and she is from Barbados. Besides singing, Rihianna is also a songwriter, fashion designer, model and actress. Her music is mainly R&B but she also does pop, dance pop, reggae, dance-hall and hip hop. The record labels that she has been associated with include Def Jam and Roc Nation.

I chose to create a music video for the song 'Same Ol' Mistakes' by Rihanna; this song is from her album 'Anti' which was released on January 28th 2016. The album was produced with her record label Roc Nation. She released three singles from the album before eventually removing them from the final track list.

For the album 'Anti', Rihanna also created a promotional video in Paris where she invited her fans to take part in December 2014. It was also announced that Rihanna had agreed to a contract worth $25 million with Samsung. She promoted Samsung Galaxy's line of products as well as the release of 'Anti' and the tour. As another promotional technique, the album was made free to download from Tidal for a week. Anyone could download it, even if they weren't a Tidal subscriber. From critics, she generally received good and positive reviews for this album.

The album cover is mysterious as it doesn't show us much through this cover. The image is distorted/fuzzy which could represent uncertainty, particularly evident in the balloon and the person that have this effect. Alongside this, the person on the album has her eyes covered by a crown; this is interesting because it becomes the salient object on the cover - shiny and emphasised. It is placed in contrast to the white and red colour scheme. The eyes are covered as well which shows us a lot about how the person feels and perhaps also about their demeanor; however, we cannot be sure about this as the eyes are covered; this adds to the mystery of the album art.
