Audience Research

To make sure that the product appealed to the expected target audience, I had to find a focus group to suit my criteria. So far my focus group have provided me with feedback on what they thought about music videos of the same genre to mine. The focus group will give me feedback on my own final work and any drafts I submit as well as any media I present them with in relation to my project. I will not make any changes to my focus group throughout this process. For me to be able to create this group, I had to consider the intended audience of my chosen song and music video.

Audience profile:
Age: 15- 25

Gender: Mixed but mainly female
Value, Attitude, Lifestyle: Mainly 'experiencers'
Registrar General's social scale: B/ C1

Description:
A typical description of my target audience would females between 15-25 years of age.
The genre of my music can be aimed at both males and females depending on the artist. As this is a female artist the music video will be primarily aimed at females; however, it will undoubtedly appeal to both genders. On the Registrar General's social scale the person would be categorised in group B or C1. In the Value, Attitude, Lifestyle (VALs) the ideal person would be an 'experiencer', which is someone who is typically young and open to trying out new products and enjoying the latest styles. Experiencers also spend as much as they can afford on clothes, music, food and films.

Focus group:
The focus group that I have gathered has 7 people in it who are mixed and are similar to my target audience meaning that the feedback I get from them will be representative of my target market. I will have this same focus group throughout the coursework; these are the people I will go to whenever I need feedback on a draft or final piece.
