Prop research

In terms of props, Rihanna uses a few different props for example in one of her videos 'Needed Me' she uses cars, cigarette lighters, pot plants, guns and masks that some of the other actors use. This shows us that props are a very big part in her music videos and it helps her emphasise the narrative. As well as this the focus is usually costume as she usually has very dramatic clothing e.g. very sheer clothing. 

As well as this, she uses props in her music video if they are a narrative because otherwise they would usually be shots of her or her dancing.  For example in 'Man Down' she uses a few different props only because it has a story line to the music video. Whereas in 'Kiss it better' she is just dancing and using minimal props as it is a performance video. As most of her videos do not have a narrative and are usually performance I will also be using minimal props and trying to create it into a performance/abstract video rather than a narrative
