In my music video I have decided how I want it to be after listening to my peer feedback for it.
My peer group seemed to like the idea of "moving on" and "freedom" therefore I will use this and make sure I can represent moving on/ freedom throughout the video. I plan on doing this through many different ways. For example a montage of her walking through the crowds and being free from her relationship and moving forwards without looking back. Another aspect that I want to include is right at the end where I add a filter over all of the video and this is because most of Rihanna's videos have a filter over them and they look darker than they actually are for example 'Kiss it better' and 'Pour it up.' The reason that I want to add this is because the song is really dark and eerie and it would fit in with the song if I add a filter in. As well as this, it will make the music video more interesting to watch if I add them in.
At the start of my music video I plan on having a montage of her moving forward and walking through the crowds in London at Oxford street and Green park. This is another aspect that my peer feedback group liked, they liked the fact that it's in a city which is similar to some of Rihanna's older videos in cities/ towns therefore I decided to keep this in my video. For this montage I need to make sure I have a day where it is grey and gloomy because then when I use a darker filter it would look better.
After the montage I plan on having the first close up of my actress where she is singing the words to the song and this is where the character is introduced to the audience, this is where she acts like she has moved on and feeling free from the relationship. After referring to my peer feedback group they liked the idea of using a shot from the actress's perspective as it is different and will be interesting to watch therefore I want to include this shot. The point of view (POV) shot will be roughly at 1 minute 10 seconds into the video as this goes with the lyrics "see it from this way around."
There are also a few lyrics in the song that I want my actress to sing while it is a close up or extreme close up. The first close up shot is when the lyrics start, "I can just hear them now" and this will be an extreme close up which introduces us to the character. I want other close ups but not of her singing for example when the chorus starts again I want to have a close up of her just her eyes opening which could represent that she has woken up from the relationship and realised that she needs to move on.
There is also a shot right at the end that I want to include, this is a tracking shot around her where is starts at the bottom of her shoes then moves upwards towards her face while going around the front and then finally tracks back around her so we see the back of her head and walking into the distance while the music stops.
I have also created a shot list along with the rough timings and different shots I plan on using in my music video, this is in another blog post.
For the makeup and costume, I was told to make it more like Rihanna's from my feedback however I won't be able to do that because she wears very revealing clothing and extreme makeup in some of the videos and that will be difficult to replicate for many reasons. For example the weather would be a problem as I don't want my actress to fall ill if she is wearing minimal clothing as well as that, my video is filmed in London therefore she won't be able to wear that as the actress may feel uncomfortable. I have decided that the clothing for my music video will be simple as the actress would feel comfortable in it and won't get ill. I have decided to go with casual clothing and a coat over so that it looks better. For the makeup I have decided to have simple makeup as well such as eyeliner, eye-shadow and mascara.
